What is an EHM?
EHM or electronic home monitoring is an ankle monitor that a person wears that keeps track of their GPS location. A person can be ordered to serve a sentence on EHM instead of jail or can be a form of pre-trial monitoring instead of or in addition to setting bail. EHM can also include 24/7 alcohol monitoring through a device called a transdermal alcohol device/monitoring (TAD). A TAD works by testing for alcohol consumption through the skin.
